Quite a few years ago I had the 'News' theme on my SMF2.0 site but with the ever changing SMF code it became unusable.

So after the CleanTek fixes if you want a new project then you could try that...if you're not to busy that is

I've attached the themes zip file to this post

I don't remember that one. Is it from the Crip Zone?

I really don't know. It's possible it's still available at SMF, but when I went to look the site was down, now I'm in bed and I can't be bothered  ;D

Dave

I forgot that my brothers site is still on 2.0.19 so I've installed the News theme there. Have a look here if you want  ;)

Be back soon!
This website is under maintenance.
Check back tomorrow!

Dave

I've decided to work on this now. I've installed the original version on a 2.0 forum here https://www.davejohnson.co.uk/SMF2.0/index.php.

I'm converting it on the test site and I've set it to the default theme. Been working on it for a few hours and nearly got the header correct, the time and smf logo are wrong and the content section is just totally wrong.

Oh well there's always tomorrow  ;D

Good luck with it. I may release Cleanwhite as is...after checking it a bit more.

EDIT: I'd ask the Akyhne, if he's still at SMF.org, if it's OK to do something with the theme first or you'd might be wasting your time?

Dave

Yes I'll ask, but my main intention is for me to use it not to publish it

Bocool

Yeah, but still some theme owners will have various terms for using their themes. Best to check it out first. Some will not give support if you modify them or modify them a certain way. :(

Dave

I contacted him and got this reply

QuoteHI there.

I'm sorry, but I can't help you out for several reasons.
First of all, SMF 2.1 is based on HTML 5, which I haven't played with. I simply don't know the language.
Second, I can't help you out because of chronic migranes I'm suffering from.

You COULD just adapt the. HTML 4 files from SMF 2, but it would be a huge job, and almost impossible to keep updated with new SMF releases.

Good luck with whatever you choose to do.

Regards.

So it looks like I'm on my own lol

Bocool

hmmm, I took a brief look at that theme and think it may be doable. :)
you just need to figure out how to convert the images to css...much like I do for the CZ theme from the old versions. Most of them are made from images and I've converted them into css gradients. The ones I couldn't convert I just used the images from the old version. ;)
